City officials approved the purchase of a new steel structure to support the new switches in a substation, which Bountiful City Light & Power has constructed in conjunction with Rocky Mountain Power.
Members of the city council recently voted unanimously to approve the $38,567 expenditure for the structure from Dis-Tran Steel, LLC of Louisiana. The company was one of five to bid the project.
Allen Johnson, director of the BCL&P, said the new structure will be a better design to attach new switches in the substation.
BCL&P officials budgeted $1.5 million for the capital improvement project.
