Weber Search and Rescue retrieve stranded hikers

OGDEN — Members of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office’s Search and Rescue team retrieved a pair of hikers from a rocky cliff in Ogden’s East Bench area Tuesday night

The hikers were above a trailhead off Douglas Street.

A man was hiking but couldn’t get down because it had turned dark, so he called his dad by cellphone, Weber Sheriff’s Lt. Mark Lowther said. The father went to the area, tried to hike up to his son, couldn’t reach him and called 911.

Search and Rescue members made it to the father about 9 p.m. and to his son about 30 minutes later.

Lowther said neither of the hikers appear to be injured. The names of the men were not released. About 30 Search and Rescue team members responded.
