Hiker rescued near Davis Creek Trail

FARMINGTON — A Life Flight hoist team Sunday rescued a man who had injured his leg in a fall while hiking.

Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Sorensen said the man, who was in his late 30s, and a woman were hiking near the Davis Creek Trail around noon when the man slipped and fell about 50 feet, landing in the creek bed. He suffered what appeared to be a compound fracture to his lower leg.

The woman hiked down, phoning for help around 2 p.m., and rescuers responded shortly after, Sorensen said. Because of the terrain, Life Flight was used to hoist the man out around 4 p.m.

Sorensen said the man was taken to the hospital and described his condition as stable.
