Millions revered Thomas S. Monson as a prophet, seer and revelator.

But the late president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who died Tuesday, Jan. 2, was also known to those millions as a humorous storyteller, with exaggerated facial expressions and a mischievous streak.

Here, then, are our Top Three Favorite Funny Monson Moments:

3. THE EYE ROLL.

In a talk from the April 2013 General Conference titled “Obedience Brings Blessings,” Monson used a couple of well-placed eye rolls to to punctuate a childhood story about how he and his friend Danny almost burned down an entire forest.

2. THE EAR WIGGLE.

In a talk from the April 2008 General Conference titled “Examples of Righteousness,” Monson wiggled his ears to great comic effect while telling a story about attending a stake conference where a young boy imitated everything the church leader did as they sat in the meeting.

1. THE DIPLOMA BOP.

But our favorite Favorite Funny Monson Moment occurred in 2010, when the LDS prophet was the commencement speaker at Weber State University. Just before addressing the graduates, Monson was presented with an honorary degree by Jerry Stevenson, then-chairman of the WSU board of trustees. As Stevenson turned back to the microphone to introduce our dignified commencement speaker, Monson reached up and lightly bopped Stevenson on the head with his newly conferred diploma.
