Saying goodbye to LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a viewing for President Thomas S. Monson on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.

Monson died Monday, Jan. 2, 2018, after serving as the church’s leader for nearly 10 years. A funeral for Monson will be at the LDS Church Conference Center Friday, Jan. 12 at noon.

Monson became a church bishop at the age of 22 and also became the youngest church apostle ever in 1963 at the age of 36. He served as a counselor for three church presidents before taking the role of president for the church.

Remembering LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson

Thomas S. Monson, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints president died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at home with his family.

During his time with the LDS Church, Monson served as a counselor in the First Presidency of the Church, was a first counselor to former LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley, as a second counselor to Howard W. Hunter and Ezra Taft Benson, and was sustained to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Oct. 4, 1964.
